Uckfield Celebrations for the Queens
Diamond Jubilee
The Group organising the events for celebration of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee met at the beginning of January to hone its plans for the activities on Monday 4 June.

The main event will be held on the Victoria Pleasure Ground, starting at 6.00 p.m., with the Procession from the town centre arriving at 8.00 p.m. The event will finish at around 9.30 p.m. after the lighting of a Beacon and singing of the National Anthem.

The organisers are looking for talented local entertainers and entertainment groups to appear live on stage at the main event in slots of up to 15 minutes each. Anyone, or any group, interested in appearing on stage is asked to contact Cllr Ian Smith by Friday 24 February.
Organisers are also hoping that the end of the event can be marked with a fireworks display, but sponsors are still being sought. Again, anyone interested in sponsoring can contact Ian Smith.

The Procession will leave Elizabeth Gardens at 7.30 p.m. and local residents can take part if they wish. Organisers have asked that people wear red and/or white and/or blue for the Procession and that they carry a lantern. Anyone under the age of 16 years would need to be accompanied by a responsible adult for the Procession.

A Prince and Princesses Fancy Dress Competition will be held when the Procession arrives at the Victoria Pleasure Ground.

Retail outlets in the town are to be asked to dress their frontage windows for the occasion in the 4 weeks leading up to the event.

NB this information has been issued on behalf of the Group making the arrangements for the event. The Town Council has representatives on that Group but this is not a Town Council event
