JIM MOLESWORTH-EDWARDS’ ROAD SAFETY WORK RECOGNISED

Uckfield Town Council’s Environment and Leisure Committee last night voted to honour Jim Molesworth-Edwards for his outstanding work and commitment to the town’s road safety day.

Chairman of the committee, Councillor Mick Dean said, “The honour will be a trophy that is presented for the best drawing or painting submitted by the schoolchildren that attend the event.  For years Jim has worked tirelessly visiting schools promoting the event and trawled the businesses of Uckfield for funding.  It is a fitting tribute to a true character of the town.”

MORE LIFE SAVING DEFIBRILLATORS INSTALLED

Using a defibrillator in the event of somebody suffering a cardiac arrest has become much simpler with ‘talking machines’ now providing the user with a step-by-step guide.

The Town Council has a defibrillator installed in the Civic Centre, and it recently worked with Uckfield Lions to install a machine at the railway station.  The Council is now pleased to say that a defibrillator has been installed at its West Park pavilion, through donations from the Lions and the Grasshoppers Junior Football Club.

Chairman of the Council’s General Purposes Committee, Councillor Ian Smith, said, “I am very pleased that the town’s community and the Town Council have worked in partnership to provide a valuable resource at locations where they are likely to be most needed.  I am aware that volunteers just recently have raised funds again for a defibrillator which they would like installed at the Town Council’s Victoria Pleasure Ground and I hope that this will soon be possible.”

You can also now see the official Town Guide for Uckfield online.

The Town Council's magazine 'The Voice' is distributed bi-monthly as part of the Uckfield Matters Magazine.  Past issues are available to view by going to our Community tab.
