Royal British Legion Centenary to be commemorated by lighting the Uckfield Beacon

Uckfield Town Council was approached by a Remembrance Lead for the Royal British Legion Sussex County earlier in the year, to announce the Royal British Legion Centenary.

As a County they have been arranging for a Torch of Remembrance to pass to and from selected branches within the county. Starting from their Rye Branch, criss-crossing the county and terminating at their Wittering branch in the week leading up to 28 August 2021.

As a highpoint to this event, they asked if towns and villages within the county would like to participate by lighting their own Beacon (of light/hope) on the final evening, which is Saturday 28 August 2021.

The Town Council confirmed it would be honoured to light the Uckfield Beacon up at Victoria Pleasure Ground on the evening of Saturday 28 August 2021.

The itinerary at present is as follows:

19:45PM Cry of Peace – Town Crier

19.55PM Prayers with Father John

19:59PM Lighting of the Beacon

20:00PM Last Post Bugle Call
