Uckfield Town Council welcomes attendees from across Sussex this Saturday as the free family festival, Weald on the Field, takes place for a 10th year.
The festival, which began in 2016 as a way to provide opportunities for local traders, makers and artists, has grown every year while championing its core ethos.
With a record number of stallholders booked for its 2025 edition, and some festival favourites returning on stage, this is expected to be the biggest Weald on the Field yet.
Holly Goring, Town Clerk at Uckfield Town Council, said: “We are very excited about this year’s event.
“Not only do we continue to have a great line-up of music and a fabulous array of food and drink, but this year saw the highest number of stallholder enquiries.
“From all of us at Uckfield Town Council, we hope everyone has a wonderful day.
“Join us in supporting businesses from across Wealden and Sussex, right on your doorstep, on Luxford Field. There’s street food, breweries, distilleries, fresh produce, crafts and more. See you there!”
On the festival’s Airstream stage, five top-class local acts will entertain the crowds:
Having played together since 1999, the Management took on a new look in 2016, with Mike and Dudley forming an acoustic duo.
They have since built up a strong local following, playing a mixture of covers spanning the 1950s to the modern day.
Mike has supported the likes of The Who, Wilko Johnson, The Pretty Things and The Bluetones with his band ‘The Standard Lamps’, while Dudley has played all over the world as part of the band ‘Lost Dog’.
Karl and Nick have been writing, recording & performing internationally together since 2015.
Both were lead singers, guitarists and songwriters in their own groups, The Smile and The Speak, in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Together, they run a pair of Sussex-based music rehearsal and recording studios and manage the Carnaby Record label. They are currently finishing a new album, ‘Awesome Sauce’, which is due for release later in 2025.
Taking the place of the unfortunately unavailable Dead Rabbits, the Repeat Offenders will perform at their first Weald on the Field.
Consisting of Adam Ede (Lead Vocals & Guitar), Fin Bailey (Lead Guitar), Dan Rowe (Bass), and
Ben Midgley (Drums), the band sometimes also perform with trumpeter Teddy Edwards.
They play a mixture of rock, funk, indie, soul, blues, reggae and hip-hop, with their variety sure to entertain the crowds.
The Midnight Project are a high-energy, five-piece rock and pop-punk band from Uckfield and Crowborough.
Formed in 2012 by founding members Tom Ballan (lead vocals, guitar) and Nathan Parmar (bass, vocals), the band quickly expanded, with Leon Mellett (lead guitar, vocals), Callum McRae (guitar), and Kieran Brown (drums) rounding out the sound. Tom and Leon have performed together since they were teenagers, bringing a deep connection to the stage.
In 2025, the band performed on the main stage at the Hastings Beer and Music Festival.
Dynamite are one of the longest-running and most experienced party bands in Sussex, with their current line-up being in place for over 14 years.
They play songs from the 1960s through to the present day in their own high-energy, amped-up style, making them ideal for all occasions.
Fronted by iconic vocalist Laura, Dynamite are another firm favourite of Weald on the Field audiences and are guaranteed to bring the house down.
12:00 – 13:00 – The Management
13:30 – 14:30 – The Carnaby Brothers
15:00 – 16:00 – Repeat Offenders
16:30 – 17:30 – The Midnight Project
18:00 – 19:00 – Dynamite
Soul and Motown specialist, Dominic Uppiah, will also be performing in the final three intervals of the day.
The other big draw of Weald on the Field is the amazing food and drink on offer.
Organised by Food Rocks, the range of stalls this year includes Thai, Italian, Mexican, Greek and British street food, plus sweet treats including cinnamon buns, waffles, cakes, cookies and ice cream.
Simon Teesdale, director of Food Rocks, said: “We have a fabulous mix of street food, bars from a range of local producers, artisan produce, craft stalls and several local shops and businesses promoting themselves and providing some amazing offers.
“As usual, we have a Harvey’s Brewery bar and this year they are joined by local favourites Three Acre Brewery, so there’s a great selection of ale and shorter queues!
“They are joined by local cider boys, Bignose & Beardy, a rum bar from Custom Spirits and a great range of soft drinks, tea and coffee.”
Simon added: “I’m really looking forward to checking out the stall of one of our sponsors – Realms VR – who offer amazing virtual escape rooms in Crowborough. They have a competition and special offers.
“Overall, this is the biggest and best Weald on the Field yet, with more traders than ever. We can’t wait to get shopping and eating!”
Children’s entertainment comes in many forms at the festival, including teacup rides and bungee jumps, while the ever-popular Luxford Field Play Area – managed by Uckfield Town Council – is a stroll away.
Facepainting, sand art, and other creative stalls all offer plenty of engaging activities.
This year’s Weald on the Field once again offers free public parking.
While attendees are asked to walk or cycle where possible, the Uckfield Station Car Park is free for those attending the festival, courtesy of APCOA and Network Rail.
Public transport is also available, with Uckfield High Street served by trains, the Brighton & Hove Buses’ Regency 29 and 29B services, the 31 and 261 Compass Bus services, and the 54 Stagecoach bus.
