Play Areas

The Town Council is committed to providing play areas and budgets annually to a rolling programme to upgrade equipment and fencing.

The Play Areas are inspected weekly, quarterly and annually to ensure that they are clean and safe to use.

Hughes Way Play area

Hughes Way

Play equipment for young people up to the age of 10 years. The play area is located at the bottom of Hughes Way. There is limited parking with on-road residential parking only.

Hughes Way Play Area was last upgraded in 2018.

Oakwood Drive

Play equipment for toddlers. Located on Oakwood Drive. Limited car parking on residential road only.

Ridgewood Play Area

Ridgewood Recreation Ground

A good range of play equipment for toddlers and juniors, situated on the recreation ground.

There are also outdoor adult gym equipment pieces located nearer to Ridgewood Village Hall.

The play area facilities and zip-wire were last upgraded late 2016. The Multi-Use Games Area was also installed at this time.

Parking is available in Ridgewood Village Hall Car Park.

Luxford Field

A great play area with a variety of equipment for toddlers and juniors, located in the top corner of Luxford Field, adjacent to Luxfords Car Park.

Located in the heart of the town, the play area also incorporates inclusive equipment.

The play area was last updated in 2020.

Hempstead Recreation Ground

Hempstead Recreation Ground

An enclosed area with a variety of different equipment for children under 12. Adjacent to this is more adventurous equipment such as a zip wire and gyratory swing for older children and fitness equipment for teens and adults.

A small number of car parking spaces are available in the adjacent car park.

This play area was last updated late 2013.

West Park

Play equipment for toddlers and juniors, with adjacent recreation area. Located off Streatfield Road, Rocks Park with on road parking or limited car parking outside West Park Pavilion, Markland Way, West Park.

Victoria Play Area

Victoria Pleasure Ground

Play equipment for toddlers and juniors, with adjacent recreation area & ball court.

We are aware that this play area requires upgrading, and it will be the next play area to receive an upgrade. We are hopeful that this upgrade can take place in 2024.

Located up Old Timbers Lane, there is a large car park adjacent to the play area.

Victoria Skate Park

Skate Park, Multi-Use Ball Court and BMX track. Located via Old Timbers Lane, with a large car park.

Ball court in a woodland setting. Located off The Drive. Car parking on residential road only.
