Uckfield Post Office Update

On Monday 27 July, we first heard the news about TG Jones planning to close their store at 33 High Street, which also houses the Uckfield Post Office.

Upon hearing the news, we contacted Cash Access UK, as we were led to believe that both Post Office and banking services would be provided within the new permanent Uckfield Banking Hub when it opens at 15 High Street.

Cash Access UK has advised that the Post Office will operate the counter service in a Banking Hub but will provide only banking services, not postal services. There will be no break in banking services, as the Temporary Banking Hub at 79 High Street will remain operational until the permanent hub opens.

The Town Clerk informed the town’s local MP Mims Davies, who, from her latest correspondence, has advised that she will pursue the matter.

The Town Clerk will also write to the Post Office to understand their current position and plans for the provision of postal services within Uckfield Town Centre.

Further updates will be posted on this page, and our Uckfield Town Council Facebook page, when we have them available to share.
