Uckfield Town Council Allotment Conference 2026

Uckfield Town Council’s annual Allotment Conference will take place on Wednesday 9 September 2026, beginning at 7.00pm in the Weald Hall at the Civic Centre Uckfield.

With an annual update on the condition of Uckfield’s allotments, topical discussions, guest speakers and the Allotment Competition prizes to be awarded, it will be a packed evening of everything green-fingered.

It has been a challenging year, of course, for our allotment holders, with extreme droughts and hosepipe bans to contend with this summer.

However, the outstanding results witnessed during competition judging in July proved the resilience of the town’s keen gardeners.

To celebrate these achievements and look ahead to the next 12 months on our allotments, we invite all allotment holders, gardeners and interested parties to attend.

Evening Schedule

Tea and coffee will be available from 6.45pm, providing an opportunity for attendees to meet fellow members of Uckfield’s allotment community before the conference begins.

The evening will open with a welcome and introductions, followed by the announcement of the winners of the town’s Scarecrow Competition and Allotment Competition, celebrating the creativity and hard work of this year’s entrants.

Guest speakers, including Glyndebourne’s long-serving Head Gardener, Kevin Martin, will then share their knowledge and experience, before representatives provide an update on the work of the Town Council’s Allotment Working Group.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to put their gardening queries to the panel during a special ‘Gardener’s Question Time’ session. This will be followed by a presentation from the Allotment Association, offering further news and information for local plot holders.

The conference will conclude by looking ahead to 2027, including early plans for next year’s Allotment Competition and annual conference.

All Uckfield Town Council allotment tenants and plot holders are warmly invited to attend, alongside Councillors, representatives of the Allotment Association and residents with an interest in allotments and local growing.
