Wealden Draft Local Plan – Consultation

On 26 February 2024, Wealden District Council confirmed that it had agreed a Draft Local Plan Regulation 18 document alongside a supporting Sustainability Appraisal.

To coincide with the Draft Local Plan, Wealden District Council has launched an eight-week public consultation period for the public to have their say.

How long does the consultation last?

This consultation takes place from 5pm, Friday 15 March to 5pm, Friday 10 May 2024, and is both in-person and online.

How the Plan affects Uckfield

The Draft Local Plan plots a range of potential development sites across the district. As one of the four main towns in Wealden, being central in the district and well-connected by public transport to most other areas, Uckfield is a key player in the Draft Local Plan.

Uckfield has 11 sites for future development that are laid out in the Plan (listed on page 379), ranging from a site of six dwellings to another of 350 dwellings.

Another site that is not included in the allocation of developments but is suggested in the Plan is on Land West of Uckfield – Owlsbury. This is listed on page 74 of the Plan documents and is raised for feedback in the Consultation survey.

In order for residents to have their say on all of these developments, and others in the district, we strongly encourage submissions to the Consultation to ensure Uckfield’s voices are heard.
