Civic Centre and Luxfords Restaurant to close from 6 January

In response to the UK Government’s recent announcement, we have had to take the difficult decision to fully close the Civic Centre and Luxfords Restaurant to the public from Wednesday 6 January 2021 until further updates are provided in February.

The Town Council will still run (despite the closure of the Civic Centre building) but operate differently, with reduced opening hours between 10.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. Residents and members of the public should continue to contact us via email at admin@uckfieldtc.gov.uk or by telephone 01825 762774 rather than in person. We would like to reassure you that emails and telephone calls will be picked up throughout the week (Monday to Friday).

If you have an urgent matter that needs addressing, you can also contact your local Town Councillor. Their contact details are available on the Town Council website – https://www.uckfieldtc.gov.uk/your-council/local-councillors/

The Town Council’s play areas will remain open as per government guidance and you can continue to exercise alone, with one other person or with your household or support bubble. This should be limited to once per day, and you should not travel outside your local area.

You can exercise in a public outdoor place:

  • by yourself
  • with the people you live with
  • with your support bubble (if you are legally permitted to form one)
  • in a childcare bubble where providing childcare
  • or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household

Public outdoor places include:

  • parks, beaches, countryside accessible to the public, forests
  • public gardens (whether or not you pay to enter them)
  • the grounds of a heritage site
  • playgrounds

These are difficult times where advice is regularly changing and we will keep you updated on any future changes with press releases. The latest government guidance can be found at:
