Uckfield Scarecrow Competition 2026
Uckfield Town Council is delighted to announce the return of the popular Uckfield Scarecrow Competition for 2026.
Following the success of the first edition opened to all Uckfield residents in 2025, we are retaining the format of having three categories; the Household Competition, the Under-12s Competition and the Business Competition.
Previous editions of the competition had only been open to allotment holders, but last year’s success proved that inviting the entire town was the future of the competition.
How to enter
Residents, businesses, community groups and charities are invited to get creative and take part by designing and displaying their own scarecrow.
The competition is a fantastic way to bring colour, fun and community spirit to the town during the summer.
Entries are now open, and participants can register by completing the online entry form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSesUVPOVUXTc8iFuG1xNUlPNsyl9C2E0dwBM-wrUbSHLXVdyA/viewform
The closing date for entries is Monday 17 August 2026, with judging taking place during the week commencing Monday 24 August 2026.
Rules, Guidance and Ideas
We are linking this year’s competition to the National Allotments Week campaign, which takes place between 10-16 August.
The theme of their campaign is ‘Grow To Learn’, and we are also adopting this as the theme of the Uckfield Scarecrow Competition 2026.
Some ideas along this theme have been suggested in our official list of ideas for this year’s competition, which is available below.

We look forward to seeing your creative creations on display across Uckfield this summer.
